I wanted you to know I love the way you laugh
I wanna hold you high and steal your pain away
He watched her as she walked into the locker room. Her face held a smile, but her eyes held something different. Sadness,
anger, hurt. And all he wanted was to take her pain away. Something he’d wanted to do for a long time. Ever since her
boyfriend, John Cena, left her to film a movie. She loved John so much, and he just hopped on a plane to leave her behind
for six months..maybe more. She loved John with all her heart and he just left.
‘I won’t do you that way, Melony,’ He thought, ‘I’d never hurt you.’
Sighing, he took a sip of water, continuing to stare at the door of the locker room, hoping for one last look at her before
his match. But a stagehand ran up, telling him he was due to the ring in five minutes. He sighed again, and headed for the
gorilla area.
I keep your photograph; I know it serves me well
I wanna hold you high and steal your pain
Melony glanced up at the tv screen when she heard his name announced. She felt a bit guilty, staring at another man while
John was gone. But then, he practically left her behind for the sake of his movie career, so to speak. She shook her head
and sat down to watch the match. It was a short and easy win...naturally he won.
Smiling, Melony picked up her bag and walked out. She liked him a lot, but she was completely loyal to John. And what would
happen if John found out she was cheating...with him of all people? Besides, she missed John too much, and it would
be stupid to throw away what they had. Glancing at her watch, she knew she was late. She was supposed to be meeting Torrie,
Dawn, Eddie, Shannon, and a few others at a club nearby. It was Torrie’s idea, so that Mel could get John off her mind.
But, Melony had a feeling it wouldn’t work. That nothing would work.
Cause I’m broken when I’m lonesome
And I don’t feel right when you’re gone away
You’ve gone away, you don’t feet me, anymore
The club was packed full of people. Loud music pounded from speakers in the wall, and yet, the WWE Superstars managed to
find a table in the back. Torrie was dancing, Dawn was flirting with a guy at the bar, while everyone else remained at the
table. Eddie and Shannon were talking and laughing, while Mel sat quietly, finishing off the last of her Corona.
"I’ll be right back, guys," She said as she stood up, "I’m gonna go get another drink."
As she was walking to the bar, she noticed him walking into the club. Did Torrie invite him? She thought, or did
he just show up here himself?
Approaching the bar, she ordered another Corona, then sat down on a stool to wait on her drink.
"Melony," He said as he walked over, taking a seat next to her, "Hey, what are you doing here?"
"Hey, Carlito," She said with a small smile, "I’m here with a few other people."
Carlito smiled, "Cool."
Mel laughed, "No pun intended, right?"
"Right."
The bartender walked up and set a Corona in front of her, then asked Carlito if he wanted anything. Carlito ordered a Corona
and the bartender walked away.
Carlito looked over and saw Melony had downed half of her beer.
"That was some match you had tonight." She said, taking another drink of Corona.
"Thanks," He said, smiling, "It was ok..not one of my best."
"I thought it rocked."
He looked at her, admiring her beautiful smile.
The worst is over now and we can breathe again
I wanna hold you high, you steal my pain away
There’s so much left to learn, and no one left to fight
I wanna hold you high and steal your pain
"Melony, can I talk to you?" He asked, "In private?"
Her eyes wide with shock, not having any idea what he wanted to talk about, she nodded, "Uhm..sure."
The both of them stood up, Carlito taking her hand to lead her through the crowd, to the quietest place he could find.
Dawn saw them together and ran over, grabbing Melony by the arm, "Where are you going?" She asked, glancing at Carlito, "What
are you doing?"
"I’ll be right back." Melony said. Dawn loosened her grip and watched Melony and Carlito leave.
Carlito lead her to a quiet, unoccupied spot in the corner.
"What did you want to talk to me about?" She asked.
He moved closer to her, his hand still clutching hers, "Melony, I..." He began, but his voice was cut off when Torrie ran
up.
"Melony! Come quick, it’s an emergency!" She yelled. Melony gave Carlito one last glance before following Torrie.
Cause I’m broken when I’m open
And I don’t feel like I am strong enough
Cause I’m broken when I’m lonesome
And I don’t feel right when you’re gone away
Even over the loud, pounding music, Carlito could hear the shriek of happiness, followed by joyous laughter. He walked
out of the corner, his brown eyes gazing at her as she ran up and wrapped her arms around John Cena, the biggest smile on
her face. John embraced her, kissed her, held her. They were perfect together.
Cause I’m broken when I’m open
And I don’t feel like I am strong enough
Cause I’m broken when I’m lonesome
And I don’t feel right when you’re gone away
Carlito stayed at the bar, away from Melony and John. He couldn’t bring himself to tell her how he felt, he couldn’t
risk tearing up her life. She had everything, and she was happy. She was happy with John Cena, and that was all that mattered;
that she was happy.
"Carlito," A voice said.
He spun around and faced her, "Melony.."
"What did you want to talk to me about?" She asked, "I’m sorry..I just got so excited. What was it?"
Carlito shook his head, "It was nothing. It can wait."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah," He nodded, "I’m sure."
She smiled, turned, and walked away.
"I’m sorry Melony," Carlito mumbled, under his breath, "But I’ll always love you."
Cause I’m broken when I’m lonesome
And I don’t feel right when you’re gone away
You’ve gone away
You don’t feel me here anymore
